FAQ

How do I check if a ship is sanctioned?

Enter the vessel’s IMO number (or name). Marifest cross-references it against the US Treasury OFAC SDN list and shows whether the ship — or its owner or operator — is a designated party, with the programme and risk score.

What does it mean if a ship is on the OFAC SDN list?

The Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list names parties US persons are generally prohibited from dealing with. A listed vessel is blocked property: chartering, fuelling, insuring or financing it exposes the counterparty to US secondary-sanctions risk.

Does “not listed” mean a ship is safe to deal with?

No. A “not listed” result only means the vessel is not on the OFAC SDN list Marifest tracks. It does not cover EU, UN or UK lists, entities owned 50%+ by designated parties, or very recent additions — so it is a screening aid, not legal clearance.

Which sanctions lists does Marifest check?

The free lookup covers the US Treasury OFAC SDN list. Premium members get screening across OFAC, the EU, the UN Security Council and the UK (OFSI), plus owner/operator resolution to catch beneficial owners hidden behind single-ship companies.

The screening caveat

Marifest currently screens vessels against the US Treasury OFAC (SDN) list, matched on IMO number, owner and operator. Absence from this list is not legal clearance and does not cover EU, UN or UK designations, sub-50%-owned entities or recent additions. Always confirm against primary sources before acting. Members get full multi-list screening, owner-resolution and a transparent risk score.

Screen against every list, not just OFAC.

Marifest Premium adds EU, UN and UK screening, owner-resolution and risk alerts on the vessels you watch. €49/mo.
